BFHL Architects was selected to design this two-story, plantation-style house on the southeastern side of the Big Island of Hawaii. The design captures the best features of traditional Hawaiian architectural vernacular and incorporates many techniques for an energy efficient home.

Design features include a wide-hipped roof with large overhanging eaves, a low profile wood frame and large “lanai” porches. Efficiencies include a solar hot water system and rainwater catchment system.
